Scholarships for Short Courses: NFP Fellowships available for short courses.
The Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education (NUFFIC) offers the opportunity to apply for a fellowship for the following training courses, as part of the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) for short courses.
The training courses concerned are:
Integrity and Anti-corruption (7 – 18 March, 2016)
This training programme aims to increase understanding of the international anti- corruption framework and related integrity policies. The role of various actors and international instruments in eliminating corruption and promoting the rule of law will be examined and corruption’s relation to international development and human security will be discussed.
Multilevel Water Governance (4 – 15 April, 2016)
This course addresses the key challenges for integrated, multilevel water governance. Next to discussing theoretical concepts and practical case studies, you will analyse your own country context by applying governance assessment tools.
Citizen Participation and Inclusive Governance (23 May – 3 June, 2016)
This course discusses basic principles of good governance, accountability and civil participation. We will explore possibilities to engage citizens in the policy and decision making process and discuss a.o. the participation ladder, the accountability chain and do’s and don’ts in participation processes.
Local Economic Development ( 18 - January 29, 2016)
This practice oriented course focuses on strengthening the economic capacity of a local or regional community. Taking into account the post-2015 agenda, the course discusses strategies and tools for local authorities to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth and decent work for all.
Gender Responsive Governance (8 - February 19, 2016)
This course starts by exploring the main gender concepts and how they relate to inclusive development. Moreover, the practical integration of gender in all dimensions of (local) governance, including participation, accountability and transparency as well as the role of women and men in equitable service delivery are discussed.
Summercourse: A local perspective to the Sustainable Development goals. (11 - July 15, 2016)
Key question in this course is how governments can decentralise policies and services to local levels to promote more inclusive development. Support modalities for donors will be discussed as well as the political economy of decentralisation and the 5C-approach to strengthen local government capacity.
Local Economic Development (19 - September 30, 2016)
This course discusses how inclusive, sustainable economic growth can be increased at the local level in low and middle income countries. Participants will visit best practices in The Netherlands, assess existing and potential characteristics of their own area, and think about ways to improve conditions.
Local Service Delivery (3 - October 14, 2016)
This course discusses how the quality of and access to these services can be improved, how the financial management of services can be organised in a transparent and democratic way and how partnerships with NGOs and the private sector help to better deal with challenges at the local level.
